HEALTHY TIPS FOR MANAGING HIV/AIDS (Part 1)
A strong immune system is very important for our healthy living and survival as humans. Its cells act as a legion of soldiers, guarding the body and fighting off deadly infections and diseases.
Imagine leaving the doors of a bullion van filled with money wide in a busy market? No armed escorts or even a driver standing close by. What do you think will happen to the bags of money after some minutes or even hours? Your guess is as good as mine.
This is exactly what HIV does when it enters the human body. It destroys the immune system, leaving the body open for other infections and diseases. With Anti-Retroviral Therapy (ART), one’s viral load can be reduced, preventing the progression of HIV infection to AIDS.
For a healthier living, there is need to adhere strictly to ARV drugs and tips. I will be sharing 3 of tips in this article. Following them will help strengthen the immune system and avoid developing other health complications that come with being infected with HIV.
Off we go...
Practicing safe sex.
- Consistent and correct use of condom reduce the chances of infecting others with HIV. Vaginal and anal sex is the major route of sexual transmission of HIV in both men and women. Safe sex, reduces the chances of infecting others there by leading to the reduction in the over rate of HIV infection.
- It reduces the possibility of getting infected with a different strain of HIV or other STDs. Though HIV 1 is more common than HIV 2, it still have 9 sub strains like A, B, C, D, E,F,G,H, I and J. Based on recent studies, rate of progression of HIV to AIDS differs among the strains. Getting co-infected with more than one strain quickens the progression from HIV to AIDS.
So practice safe sex to avoid infecting others and getting infected with a different strain of HIV that may compound your health challenges.
